ECON 5660 - Health Economics


Introduces students to analytical skills and economic methods, and demonstrates how these methods can be applied to issues in health policy and management. Topics include: demand for health and medical care; health care costs, health reform, medical technology; market for health insurance; physicians, hospitals, and managed care; pharmaceuticals; regulations in the U.S. health care sector; demand for addictive substances; infant and maternal health; international comparisons of health care systems.
