ISMG 6220 - Business Intelligence Systems and Analytics This course covers the collection of computer technologies that support decision making. These technologies have had a profound impact on corporate strategy, performance, and competitiveness. These techniques broadly encompass analytics, business intelligence, and decision support systems. The discussion is organized around key enablers of the three types of analytics (1) descriptive analytics including data warehousing, business reporting, decision dashboard/ scorecards, visual analytics, (2) predictive analytics including Web Analytics, Web Mining and Social media Analytics, and (3) prescriptive analytics including decision analytics and big data analytics. The course concludes with emerging trends and topics in business analytics, including geospatial in analytics, location-based and consumer-oriented analytical applications, mobile platforms, and cloud-based analytics. The recommended prerequisite for this course is ISMG 6080. If you are familiar with database management systems and have worked with such systems (e.g., ACCESS) in the past, you satisfy the prerequisite requirements for this course.
