Summer 2010 RegistrationSOC 4280 The city simultaneously attracts and repulses us. It has openness and beauty; it is also cramped, crowded, and ugly. The city provides us with freedoms undreamed of in other times and places, yet it restricts our movements and activities. This course examines how different professionals have viewed the city, with particular attention to the spaces in the city.
