Geography Minor

General Requirements

To earn a degree, students must satisfy all requirements in each of the areas below, in addition to their individual major requirements.

Program Requirements


  1. Students must complete 15 semester hours in geography, including at least 6 semester hours of upper-division courses.
  2. Students must achieve a grade of C (2.0) or above on required courses.
  3. At least 9 semester hours of geography courses must be completed at CU Denver.
  4. Undergraduate students may count up to 6 credit hours of independent study (any combination of GEOG 3840, 4840, 4880/GEOL 3840, 4840, 4880/ENVS 3840, 4840, 4880) towards elective credit in the minor as approved by the undergraduate coordinator. Students may not receive more than 3 credit hours per independent study section. No more than 3 credit hours of independent study may be taken with the same instructor or in the same term.
