The undergraduate certificate in computer graphics and visual effects is designed to enhance computer science and 3D graphics and animation students’ post-graduation professional marketability and preparation for graduate studies and specialized industries. Students who complete this certificate will understand the characteristics and capabilities of various computer graphic technologies (hardware and software), their value for expressive, functional and strategic applications, their positions within larger contexts and systems, and their influences on individuals and society.
FINE courses for this certificate are billed at a different rate than the standard course tuition. For more information regarding this rate, contact the College of Arts & Media at CAM@ucdenver.edu.

Declaring This Certificate
- Students enrolled in the CU Denver computer science degree program or College of Arts & Media 3D graphics and animation emphasis may apply for admission to this certificate. Please contact Computer Science Director Min Choi at min.choi@ucdenver.edu for information about the application process.

Certificate Requirements
- All courses for this certificate must be taken at CU Denver.
- A minimum grade of C (2.0) is required for each course applied toward a CS or College of Arts & Media major, minor or certificate requirement. A grade of C- (1.7) or lower will not fulfill a major, minor or certificate requirement. A grade of P is acceptable for courses in which the only grade available is Pass or Fail.
- Students earning the certificate must have at least a 2.0 cumulative CU GPA.
- All applicable courses taken in a College of Engineering and Applied Science certificate program can be used toward the requirements for a CEAS degree program.
- All applicable courses taken in this certificate program can be used toward the requirements for a College of Arts & Media degree program.
