CVEN 5613 - Traffic Flow Theory and Fundamentals Emphasizes the mathematical and probabilistic aspects of traffic flows on interrupted (signalized) and uninterrupted (unsignalized) roadways. The course examines the properties of vehicle motion in traffic streams, and then examines the traffic interactions affected by the relationship between supply (signal timings and road designs) and demand (vehicle arrival rates and traffic patterns). Both macroscopic and microscopic models of traffic flow characteristics are presented, as well as queuing models and statistical distributions of headways. Prereq: CVEN 5611 and CVEN 5621 or permission of instructor. Max hours: 3 Credits. Semester Hours: 3 to 3
