COUN 5180 - Counseling Couples This course is didactic and experiential dealing with therapeutic techniques applied to the improvement of intimate/couple relationships. Emphasis is placed on empirically based assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of couples’ problems. Special topics include: co-habiting couples, gay and lesbian couples, remarried couples, cross-cultural couples, ethical and moral dimensions of couple counseling, unique couple issues, and the effectiveness of couple therapy. Prereq: COUN 5010, 5100 and 5150. Restriction: Restricted to COUN majors within the School of Education and Human Development. Max hours: 3 Credits. Semester Hours: 3 to 3
