Summer 2010 Registration HIST 5027
The transformation of the European and American intellectual world in the late 17th and 18th centuries. Focuses on the novel ideas, institutions and discursive practices of the philosophies in Europe and America. Themes include the popularization of scientific thinking, rationalism, deism and secularization, the public sphere, popular sovereignty and confidence in the future.
