BIOL 2051 - General Biology I Introduces four major areas of study: (1) the chemistry of biological systems; (2) the structure and function of the cell; (3) cellular energy transformations (photosynthesis and respiration); and (4) genetics (mitosis, meiosis, patterns of inheritance, molecular genetics). Note: Biology and health science (pre-med, pre-vet, pre-physical therapy, etc.) majors must also take the accompanying laboratory - BIOL 2071. Prereq: CHEM 1000 or high school chemistry required.
